Term 1 , Week 6

From the Principal

Dear Parents,

I hope you have had a wonderful week and things are going well. It was great to be back this week after three days at a Christian schools principals conference. My thanks to Mrs Davila for her hard work in leading the school in my absence.

Year 2’s Chapel today was wonderful, hearing our students share how God’s promises outwork in their life and the good things God is doing! The bible talks about a childlike faith that we should come with and Year 2 really captured that this morning.

Traffic:

Thankfully, this week the traffic around the school seemed to be much better with the reopening of Tower Road. I know many of our families in the South West have been affected by the traffic on Henry Lawson Drive. There is a plan to extend Henry Lawson Drive to a second lane, however, the timelines are not particularly clear. I encourage those families in the South West to continue to make use of the bus service which stops at Moorebank, Liverpool and Glenfield.

Easter Chapel and Hat Parade:

I’m looking forward to our Easter Chapel and Hat parade in a few weeks. Every year it seems that the hats get more and more extravagant, to the point that some of them look like professional creations. I am not trying to dampen the party and if it is something that brings you joy, decorating with your child, then please go for it. Please remember that the expectation is not on you as parents to spend the next three weeks of your life dedicated to creating the world’s greatest Easter hat. It is an activity we do to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus and to have some fun towards the end of a busy term. I would encourage you to carve some time out, planning and preparing with your child/children but at the end of the day it is designed to be fun.

In the lead up to Easter, it might be good for you to think about someone in your extended family, you can bring to the Easter Chapel Service. Often people are receptive to come at this time of year and every year we hear stories of people who have enjoyed coming and hearing about the Good News from our students.

Have a blessed weekend,

My door is always open,

Joe Britton

Easter Chapel and Hat Parade.

Easter is quickly approaching!

We love this time of the year where we take time to remember the incredible sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross in the ultimate demonstration of love.

Our Easter Chapel this year will be held on Thursday 28th March at 1pm. This will be a very special time for our school community. All families are invited to join us!

As part of our Easter celebrations, students will be designing and constructing Easter hats at home to bring to school for a parade in the school gymnasium (to follow after the Easter Chapel). We encourage all students to participate in designing hats that symbolise this time of the year.

There will be several categories for prizes that students in each class can win:

  • Most robustly constructed
  • Most creatively themed
  • Most symbolic

Thank you for all your support! We hope this time is a blessing to you and your family.
