Term 2 , Week 9

From the Principal

Dear Parents,

I pray you had a good week.

Over the weekend you will receive your child’s Semester One report. I have read through every report comment and I love how I could see that our teachers really “know” your children. It was also so exciting to read about all of the progress and great work that all of your children have achieved so far this year.

For our Year 3 and 5 parents, your child’s NAPLAN results are also included. (The full report will be sent to you by ACARA early next term). By and large, they are some of the strongest results our school has ever achieved, particularly in Spelling and Reading.

A reminder that one semester of learning looks different for every child. Therefore I encourage you not to look just at the grades, but also at the comment and remember that school is not about your child being the best, but rather being their best!

There are encouraging comments, areas of improvement and comments around how they have achieved success. I encourage you to go through the report with your child, in particular the general comment which has reference to how they behave in class and their work ethic. If you have any questions or queries, please bring them to your parent teacher interviews on Tuesday/Wednesday next week. Children greatly benefit from home and school working together and being on the same page.

A reminder that it will be emailed to you at some point over the weekend. Please check your junk folder, as sometimes they do end up there.

Congratulations:

To all of our wonderful Kindergarten students, who celebrated their 100 days of school on Thursday. I had the honour of having both KS and KG visit my office and spend some time with me. What a brilliant group of Kindergarten students we have!

Congratulations also to our Years 1 and 2 students who had a great time at the Australian Museum on Thursday. Mrs Davila commented on how well the children all behaved and what great representatives of our school they were.

My door is always open,

Joe Britton

Volunteers Needed for Musical Props.

Our musical rehearsals are underway and we would love your help! We are looking for some parent helpers who would be interested in preparing props (cutting/painting/building/paper machè-ing) and/or sewing costumes. If you are skilled in this area, and willing to volunteer some time, please contact mrsbritton@hpcs.nsw.edu.au so that we can get you involved in this process.

Congratulations!

We would like to congratulate the Park family with the birth of their son Bethel.

We pray Jeremiah 29:11 over him -“’For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”

Here are some photos of the adorable little boy.

-They did a 100 challenge where they had to follow clues and visited our Year 1 class where they will be next year, Mr Britton’s office and they went to see their  buddies in Year 5 and 6.

Thank you to Mrs Stevens, Mrs Gunamie and Miss Lord for all their hard work.
