Term 4 , Week 8

From the Principal

Dear Parents,

I hope you are well

A few last pieces of communication from me:

Instrumental Program 2025:
Firstly, the school has been working through an initiative for next year for our music program. There is an opportunity for us to offer learning a instrument for our students in years 4-6 next year. The information is listed just below this report, please fill out an expression of interest if you are interested in your child learning this.

Bus Run 2025:
Thank you to those who filled out a previous expression of interest for two bus runs. The one that received more interest was a run from Padstow-Panania-Condell Park. So we will be starting this from next year. Early next week all of our families in this region will receive a sign up form which will have exact details of the stops and the timings.

Fees:
Attached to this email is a letter regarding fees. Our school fees will go up very slightly next year, to match the current CPI. The executive team and the school board have worked incredibly hard to keep fees as low as possible. We know many of you work incredibly hard to be able to send your children to our school. Once again, if you are experiencing financial challenges, please make an appointment with our business manager Mr Chow,  businessmanager@hpcs.nsw.edu.au or contact the office.

Student Reports:
Will be sent out via email today, sometimes they appear in the junk inbox, and some seem to randomly appear at different points over the weekend. If you have still not received it by Monday, please email the school and someone will email it to you early next week. A reminder about reports: Please read the explanation of the grades at the beginning of the report. Every year we have people who are very concerned about a grade, only to find out their children are actually working at grade level!

Thank you:
Thank you to all who came and attended our presentation night last night. It was a great night of celebrating success of all kinds in a variety of different areas of learning. This morning we also farewelled our Year 6 students, 17 fine young men and women that have contributed greatly to the school, we wish them all the very best.

We thank God for another year of his provision and grace over our community. I wanted to take the time to sincerely thank you for your support of our school the last 12 months. I’ve said this before, one year of learning looks very different for every student. I’m proud of each and every one of our 186 students and their incredible success, hard work and dedication to their learning this year.

On a personal note, I wanted to express my gratitude to the parent body of this school. You encourage the staff, support the mission and are so supportive of our little school. Even this week, the generosity of gifts and thank you notes has been overwhelming but we are so thankful. On behalf of the staff, thank you for trusting us with the education of your children but also for the way in which you bring God’s goodness and grace to our staff.

I pray for your safety and rest, this holiday season, I look very much forward to seeing you in 2025.

My door is always open,

Joe Britton

Year 4 – 6 Instrumental Program.

Dear Parents of Students in Year 4-6 in 2025,

We are excited about the possibility of starting an instrumental program next year and so we would like to survey and find out how many students would take up the opportunity to learn to play a concert band instrument in school. We see this as a valuable experience for all students and we endeavour to provide our students with a variety of experiences here at HopePoint.

What instruments would be available to learn?

To start off with, we are offering trumpet, trombone, percussion, flute, clarinet and alto saxophone. These instruments make up a concert band which is something we will strive to have.

When would the program run?

Our music tuition program would run outside of the usual curriculum music class that each class partakes in. Students who choose to participate in the instrumental program will be taken out of class for half an hour each week by a music tutor in small groups with the other students that are learning the same instrument. There would be consultation with teachers regarding timetabling so that there isn’t a negative impact on student learning.

What are the costs associated with participating?

We are covering the costs of tuition but there will be a fee of around $80-$120 each term to go towards the costs of instrument hire and maintenance. This will be an addition to regular school fees. Students will take their instruments home to practise.

Is it optional?

We don’t have the capacity to offer this program to all students just yet, so it will be limited to students who choose to opt in.

Who is invited to participate?

Students in years 4-6 in 2025 are invited to express their interest in the program. The final decision on who will be able to participate will depend on how many students are interested.

If your child is interested in participating in 2025, please fill in this form.

Please complete the form (link above) by Friday 13th December so that we can move forward with our planning.

We are excited about this possibility and will release more information in January if we decide to go ahead with the plan.

Kindest Regards,
Mrs Ruthie Britton
