Term 3, Week 5

From the Principal

Dear Parents,

We had a wonderful Father’s Day chapel service this morning. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who took the time to join us.

I felt it was important to address our dads and father figures and acknowledge the unique and vital role you play. The Bible highlights qualities of dads such as being a spiritual leader, loving husband, encourager, mentor, dreamer, and provider.

In my life, being a Dad is one of the greatest honours, but also one of the greatest challenges. Embracing tiredness, trying to coach our kids through things, supporting our partners, managing busy schedules and still ensuring we have time to play and spend time with our kids; there is often no easy playbook to these things and all of our kids have different personalities and needs. Our responsibility as fathers is not to live vicariously through our children but to help each of them see their potential and live the life God has planned for them. Striking the balance between discipleship and discipline is not always easy. Our role is not to manage every friendship, emotion, or behavior of our kids but to guide them thoughtfully, prayerfully, and by example. I shared at Chapel this morning, one of my earliest memories of my Father is him holding me up as we fell down a few flights of stairs in the apartment block in Glebe that I grew up in. In the same way our heavenly father holds us up when we are going through challenges. The best qualities of our Dad’s give us just a glimpse of the love that Jesus has for us.

It would be remiss of me also not to mention that, for many, Father’s Day brings mixed emotions, even in our students. My prayer for you this weekend is that you find moments to cherish, celebrate, and lament where necessary, all while feeling the comforting presence of your Heavenly Father leading and guiding you.

This is an encouragement to continue the great work you are doing. Raising children with Christian values in a world that seems increasingly disconnected from these truths is no small task. A shout out to all of our Dads and father figures, and perhaps even our single Mums who often take on much of the role. You are doing an incredible job. May God bless you.

Uniform Changeover

Due to the hot weather, we are bringing forward our uniform changeover. Next week (Week 6) will be the last week of winter uniform. From Week 7 we will have one changeover week, where it is acceptable to wear either summer or winter uniform (but not a combination of both). Then it will be summer uniform from week 8.

Huge Congratulations to Mrs Gunamie

A huge congratulations to Mrs Gunamie and her husband Sean on the birth of their beautiful little girl Tahlia Ma, born on Tuesday. We are so happy for you!

My door is always open,

Joe Britton
