Wellbeing
At HPCS, we believe that education is about far more than academic achievement. True Christian education nurtures the heart, mind, and spirit, and we are committed to helping our students thrive in every aspect of their lives. Our wellbeing practices are intentional, relational, and grounded in the belief that every child is known, valued, and created with purpose.
We are proud of the incredibly positive culture within our school. Students at HPCS enjoy a safe, caring environment where respect, kindness, and community are the norm. While we have strong policies in place to address concerns if they arise, our school is blessed with very low levels of anti-social behaviour, and our focus remains on proactively teaching and modelling healthy relationships.
Quality pastoral care is the responsibility of our whole community. We do not see students as numbers, we see them as individuals, each with their own story, strengths, and needs.
To ensure every child feels connected from the moment they arrive, each new student is paired with a buddy. This helps them settle quickly, form friendships, and feel part of the HPCS family. Our buddy system reflects our commitment to creating an environment where no child feels alone, and where students actively care for one another.
We are also blessed to have a trained School Counsellor who provides additional emotional and social support where needed. Students can access confidential guidance for a range of concerns, from worries or stress to navigating friendship dynamics or personal challenges. Our counsellor works closely with staff and families to ensure holistic care for every child.
At the heart of wellbeing at HPCS is our commitment to Christian formation. Through weekly chapel services, morning devotions, and Christ-centred learning, students are given space to reflect, pray, and grow in their faith. These rhythms anchor our community, remind us of God’s love and purpose, and shape the values that define our school.
